Licensed psychotherapists wanted for supervision!

We are looking for licensed psychotherapists to supervise our counselors in individual and group supervision. Sessions run remotely on Microsoft Teams, and you work freelance. Psychofit offers psychological counseling by psychologists with a bachelor’s degree, supervised by licensed psychotherapists. The need for psychological counseling is great: on average, people in Germany wait 142 days for a place in therapy. You can find more on our home page and in our blog.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be recognized as a supervisor?

No. Recognition by a training institute (former law) or by the chamber under its continuing education rules is welcome but not required. Our supervision is not continuing education in the chamber’s sense. It accompanies the psychological counseling of our counselors. What you need is the license to practice and several years of experience as a supervisor.

Who will I supervise?

Psychologists with a bachelor’s degree who offer psychological counseling at Psychofit, not psychotherapy. Individual supervision has one or two participants, group supervision three or four, more by arrangement.

How are sessions scheduled?

Our platform looks for times in the next two weeks when all participants are free. You receive the request with their questions by email and pick a time or let us know that none works. There is no back and forth.

How much time does it take?

Individual supervision takes 50 minutes, group supervision 90 minutes, each plus preparation and follow-up. We agree on the number of sessions with you in advance, based on your availability.

How is it paid?

In your application you tell us your fee per supervision session, separately for individual and for group supervision. We agree on the fee per format in the framework contract. You invoice after each session.

I hold a statutory health insurance license (Kassensitz). Can I do this?

Yes. Supervision is not a statutory health insurance service and is not billed through your KV. It only has to fit your care mandate, and your consultation hours come first (sections 19a and 20 Ärzte-ZV). A few sessions a month are usually not an issue. If in doubt, ask your KV.

I’m employed. Can I still do this?

Yes, as freelance side work. Many employment contracts require you to notify your employer in writing before taking on paid side work. Please check with your employer.

What about VAT and insurance?

Under the case law of the Federal Fiscal Court, supervision is usually not a VAT-exempt medical treatment, so VAT applies. The small business rule is still available, and exempt psychotherapy revenue does not count toward its limit. Please check the details with your tax advisor. Also ask your professional liability insurer whether supervision is covered.

Do I earn continuing education credits?

Probably not. Chambers usually grant credits for leading supervision only if it is certified and the participants are licensed. Our counselors are not.
